COVID-19 Encouragement

What a week it's been...

I'm sure by now you've gotten an email from every place you've ever shopped in, eaten at, done business with, etc. I've even gotten emails from companies I've never heard of.

The original purpose of this email was to tell you the mission statement of Salt Church. That can wait until next week.

All week, I have worked from home.

If you know me at all, you know I love to be around people. Sitting in my room living the life of an introvert is not for me.

Church planting is interesting. You do things that you never thought you could do or have never done before. For instance, I've been building the Salt Church website. Trust me, I'm no web developer.

In between tutorials on YouTube, I put my Apple Music on shuffle. There's a song that stuck out to me right when I heard it.

It's called Alive and Breathing by Matt Maher.

Here's the words of the chorus:

Joy still comes in the morning
Hope still walks with the hurting
If you're still alive and breathing
Praise the Lord
Don't stop dancing and dreaming
There's still Good News worth repeating
So lift your head and keep singing
Praise the Lord

The reality is, we are all adjusting to this new normal. With that comes fear, restlessness, anxiety, and many other things.

But here's the deal, and most of you know this - Christ is still on His throne.

In Colossians 1, Paul writes one of the most beautiful descriptions of Jesus.

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities - all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Col. 1:15-17).

That's who we serve. The one who literally holds all things together. For that, there's no reason to live in fear...there's no reason to be anxious. Jesus holds this under His control!

So if you're in Christ, realize we still have joy, we still have hope, we still have the Good News. Lift your head. Keep singing. Be encouraged.

Tomorrow morning, thousands of churches will gather in some virtual setting and Christ will be praised. Because the gates of hell will not prevail against the Gospel. They never will.
