On Wednesday, November 26th, the elders of Salt Church were informed that ~8.5 acres of land in our target area were listed for sale. After eldership and member approval, we have decided to proceed with securing this area as a future, permanent home for Salt Church.

Project Funding

The purchase price of this land is $2.5 million and will be purchased through three different "funding buckets."

Bucket #1 - Current Assets

Since our church's inception in January 2021, we have accumulated over $800,000 in a liquid money market account that has been earmarked to be used if a situation like this were to present itself.

Bucket #2 - Congregational Giving

Between now and March 31, 2026, our goal is to raise $500,000 as a church to help cover the land purchase price. In addition to cash gifts, please consider giving any appreciated stock you have. Please get in touch with us if assistance is needed in this area.

Bucket #3 - Securing a Loan

Based on the combination of Buckets #1 and #2, we are working with CDF Capital to secure a loan to cover the remaining balance.

*Please note that the terms of the loan and projected monthly payment amounts have already been worked into our 2025-2026 fiscal budget, and there is no need for a budget increase in order to fund this project.

Project Vision

Taking the step to purchase a piece of land is the first of many steps toward securing a long-term, permanent home for Salt Church. Although timelines can change, below is the plan to develop the land so we can one day meet there.

Step #1 - Form a Small Future Development Team (Immediate)

The current vision of Salt Church is to use the Gospel in every creative way to practically meet the needs of the community God has placed us in. We don't want a building that is only utilized on Sundays, but instead, want to be a beacon of light in this community all week long. The purpose of this team is to strategically think of what will be needed on this property in order to most effectively execute The Great Commission while aligning with the vision and values of Salt Church.

Step #2 - Benchmark Churches (January 2026 - June 2026)

Over the next six months, we plan to tour and talk to 7-10 churches in the Phoenix Metropolitan area that have either recently completed a building project, or have similar aligning visions as Salt Church in how to develop the land for maximum kingdom impact.

Step #3 - Overall Land Use Design (June 2026 - December 2026)

Once we are aligned on the vision for how this land will be best utilized, we will work with an architectural firm to develop plans and move toward breaking ground. Additionally, there will be either small-group meetings or a member meeting where input can be provided to the development team.

Step #4 - Multipurpose Building Completed (2028)

We are committed to a plan that would allow us to meet as a church on this land, possibly before full development of the 8.5 acres. Our first step in expediting this process is to build a ~20,000-square-foot multipurpose building with an auditorium and classroom space, providing all the functionality we currently have at Canyon View High School while moving our other ministries (E.g., Women's Bible Study) out of rented spaces and onto the property.

Step #5 - Full Land Development (Future)

The final step is to fully develop this 8.5 acres, possibly including adding buildings or other functionality to serve the needs of the church and community around us.
